Matt grew up in the Syracuse area his whole life.  He loves the city.  That is why he chose to stay here and pursue his passion for coffee.  Matt enjoys roasting coffee and making drinks in any of the cafe's.  When he is not at work he enjoys his down time at home with his wife and two kids.

I grew up in Syracuse, NY in the Valley. Got into coffee while in Bible college 12 years ago and have been in the industry ever since. I have worked in many different shops as a barista, trainer, manager. I have been involved in barista competitions for a good portion of my career being a finalist in several and winning several too. (4th place United states Barista Championship 2007, 3 time Coffee Fest Latte art Champion) I moved back to Syracuse in December to work with Matt at Cafe Kubal and it has been one of the best decisions I have made in my coffee career. I live in Eastwood with my wife and lots of counter crowding coffee equipment.

My favorite coffee beverage is either a straight espresso or a Chemex brewed Wahgi Valley Papua New Guinea.

I enjoy guitar, doodling, and uhhh...coffee.

When I am not at work I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and with God and his word. I also seem to like reading the first half of several books, and learning the food industry both through reading and eating. Oh...and obsessing about coffee.

My Passion is fresh, high quality, food that people can enjoy.

I studied for that passion at The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in Cambridge, MA.  Once I graduated my husband and I moved to Syracuse and I worked at the prestigous Biscotti's bakery for 2 years before coming to Kubal.

My hobbies include hiking, camping, bike riding, and pretty much anything outdoors.
